MINNEAPOLIS, April 6 (UPI) -- Alex Gordon hit a two-run single for the Kansas City Royals Sunday in a 3-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Gordon's hit in the second inning scored Jose Guillen, who had singled, and Billy Butler, who slammed a double. Butler finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and Gordon was 2-for-4.

Brett Tomko (1-0) tossed five shutout innings, giving up six hits, for the win.
Justin Morneau slugged a solo homer for the Twins.
Boof Bonser (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits over seven innings.
