PHILADELPHIA, April 3 (UPI) -- Jayson Werth's bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday gave the Philadelphia Phillies an 8-7 win over Washington.
After looking at four pitches from loser Jesus Colome (0-1), Werth connected for his first RBI of the season -- handing Washington its first loss and preventing a three-game sweep.
Jimmy Rollins scored the winning run.
Philadelphia's six-run sixth inning erased a 7-6 deficit but the contest went to extra innings after Washington's Christian Guzman hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth.
The Phillies' Pedro Feliz had a run, two hits and two RBI. Geoff Jenkins had three hits and one RBI. Chris Coste had two hits, one a solo homer in the third. Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell also had two hits for the Phillies, who stranded 21 runners.
The winning pitcher was Clay Condrey (1-0).
Ronny Belliard had two RBI, Jesus Flores one, and three players had three hits each for the Nationals, who left 24 runners on base.
