NHL: Colorado 6, Vancouver 3

DENVER, March 27 (UPI) -- Milan Hejduk scored twice Wednesday, one of the tallies coming during a four-goal second period, powering Colorado to a 6-3 victory over Vancouver.

Colorado has won two in a row following a four-game losing streak.

Paul Stastny, Jordan Leopold, Cody McLeod and Ben Guite all scored for Colorado, and Peter Forsberg added three assists. Jose Theodore made 28 saves.

Colorado moved two points in front of Vancouver for seventh place in the Western Conference. Vancouver is two points ahead of Nashville for the final playoff spot.

Vancouver lost its third in a row, its longest losing streak of the season.

Colorado faced a 2-1 deficit going into the second period, but the Avalanche scored four times in the first 12 minutes of the stanza.

Hejduk delivered the game's final goal just 23 seconds into the third period.
