COL BKB: North Carolina 108, Arkansas 77

RALEIGH, N.C., March 23 (UPI) -- North Carolina, paced by Wayne Ellington's 20 points, ran up a big early lead and crushed Arkansas 108-77 Sunday in an NCAA Tournament second-round game.

The Tar Heels (34-2), seeded No. 1 overall, advanced to the Sweet 16 round in Charlotte, N.C., against Washington State Thursday.

Ty Lawson scored 19 points and Tyler Hansbrough had 17 points and 10 rebounds for North Carolina in its easy win at Raleigh, N.C.

The Tar Heels jumped to a quick 9-0 lead and stretched it to 51-26 by halftime. They hit 73.5 percent of their field goals in the second half.

Arkansas' leading scorer was Sonny Weems with 19 points. The Razorbacks completed their season with a mark of 23-12.
