LOS ANGELES, March 19 (UPI) -- Brian Boucher notched 29 saves in his second start of the season and the San Jose Sharks topped the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 Tuesday.

Boucher turned away several solid scoring tries by the Kings in the final minutes, including a hard slap shot by Tom Preissing after the Kings had pulled goalie Dan Cloutier in favor of an extra skater.

Boucher, who signed a one-year contract with the Sharks only last month, shut out St. Louis in his only other start of the season.

Cloutier allowed two goals on 23 shots, while Lubimor Visnovsky tallied the Kings' lone goal with 4:47 to play in the game to make it 2-1. The goal was his seventh of the season.

San Jose's Joe Thornton opened the scoring with his 20th goal of the season on a power-play goal at 17:09 of the first period. Rissmiller tallied his eighth goal of the season with 3:37 to play in the second period.
