McGill leads, Ochoa stumbles in Mexico

MEXICO CITY, March 14 (UPI) -- Jill McGill, seeking her first victory on the LPGA Tour, took a one-shot lead Friday in the opening round of the MasterCard Classic.

McGill fired a 5-under 67 at the BosqueReal Country Club with Ji-Young Oh and Yani Tseng standing at 68. Eva Dahllof and Amy Yang were tied for fourth at 69.

Lorena Ochoa, the world's top-ranked women's player, disappointed her large gallery by firing a 4-over 76. She had recorded 11 straight sub-par rounds prior to Friday and had won her only previous start this year.
