COL BKB: UCLA 70, Arizona St. 49

TEMPE, Ariz., Feb. 29 (UPI) -- Kevin Love had 18 points and 12 rebounds Thursday and No. 4 UCLA clamped down on defense to run past Arizona State 70-49.

The Bruins limited the Sun Devils to 18 field goals and maintained a one-game lead over Stanford in the race for the Pac-10 regular-season championship.

Josh Shipp and Darren Collison both added 15 points for UCLA (25-3, 13-2), which is in position to grab one of the four No. 1 seeds in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

Arizona State (17-10, 7-8) was led by Rihards Kuksiks with 11 points.

Midway through the first half the teams had scored only nine points apiece, but the Bruins outscored Arizona State by 11 during the remainder of the period and were not threatened in the second half.
