NHL: Buffalo 5, Toronto 1

TORONTO, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Ales Kotalik scored twice Thursday to highlight an offensive outburst that boosted the Buffalo Sabres to a 5-1 victory over Toronto.

Brian Campbell and Jaroslav Spacek both had a goal and an assist and Thomas Vanek extended his points streak to four games with a pair of assists. Ryan Miller made 34 saves for Buffalo.

Toronto, which had won its previous two games, got a goal from Pavel Kubina.

Campbell opened the scoring 2:36 into the first period with a slapshot and Spacek made it 2-0 just 59 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal.

Buffalo improved to 10-2-2 since Jan. 24.
