Sorenstam shares lead in 2008 debut

KAHUKU, Hawaii, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Annika Sorenstam, who suffered through the first winless season of her career during an injury-plagued 2007, shared the 36-hole lead Friday at the SBS Open.

Sorenstam shot a 5-under 67 over the Palmer Course at the Turtle Bay Resort. That gave her a two-day total of 7-under 137, tied for the top spot with Erica Blasberg, who has finished no better than 18th in her four-year LPGA Tour career.

Jane Park, Laura Diaz, Christie Kerr and Momoko Ueda shared third place at 138 and Lindsey Wright was alone in seventh at 139.

First-round leader Kelli Kuehne, trying to rebuild her career after making it through this year's qualifying tournament, barely survived the 36-hole cut after shooting a 79. She was at 2-over 146 for the event.

Sorenstam, who was replaced as the world's No. 1 female golfer last year by Lorena Ochoa, is making her 2008 debut. She did not make a bogey Friday, but did suffer a double bogey at the par-3 fourth. It was her second double bogey of the tournament.
