CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Feb. 7 (UPI) -- Greg Paulus scored all of his 18 points from beyond the three-point line Wednesday to lead No. 2 Duke to an 89-78 victory over third-ranked North Carolina.
In a battle of traditional powerhouses, Duke downed the Tar Heels for the first time in four meetings. North Carolina had to play without Ty Lawson, its third-leading scorer who suffered a sprained ankle in an overtime win over Florida State last weekend.
Jon Scheyer added 17 points and Kyle Singler had 14 for the Blue Devils (20-1, 8-0 ACC).
Duke has won 10 in a row since its only loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 20.
Paulus made six of eight three-point shots and Duke hit 13 of 29 overall from long range. North Carolina could convert just three of 17 three-point attempts.
Tyler Hansbrough had 28 points and 18 rebounds for the Tar Heels (21-2, 6-2). North Carolina's only other loss this season came at Maryland.
