NEW YORK, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- The New York Mets officially got ace pitcher Johan Santana from Minnesota Saturday after the two-time Cy Young Award winner passed a physical.
The Mets acquired Santana this week for prospects Carlos Gomez, Deolis Guerra, Kevin Mulvey and Phil Humber. The deal was pending agreement on a contract extension, which occurred Friday night to the tune of $137.5 million over six years.

The Mets had until 5 p.m. EST Friday to sign Santana and failed to do so, but was granted a two-hour extension by Major League Baseball to get the deal done.
Santana passed the physical Saturday. He's scheduled to be introduced to the New York media as a Met during a Wednesday news conference.
