KAHUKU, Hawaii, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Jerry Pate won a windy Turtle Bay Championship in Hawaii Sunday with a two-under 70.

Pate finished at 5-under part 211 and won by two strokes. The 1976 U.S. Open champion, Pate needed the win because it gave him full status on the Champions Tour. It was his second on the tour, having won the 2006 Outdoor Steakhouse Pro-Am.

Fulton Allem shot a one-over 73 on Sunday, enough to share second place with Jim Thorpe, who birdied the last for a two-over 74. Both finished at three-under 213.

Overnight leader Gil Morgan shot a five-over 77 and tied for fourth place with Wayne Grady (70), Loren Roberts (71) and Robert Thompson (72) in the final round. The group finished at two-under-par 214.
