Brady wins 5th Player of Week honor

NEW YORK, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Tom Brady, quarterback of the unbeaten New England Patriots, has been named AFC offensive player of the week for the fifth time this season.

Brady was honored Wednesday, along with San Diego linebacker Jyles Tucker, chosen top defensive player, and Tennessee kicker Rod Bironas, who won for his special teams play.

Brady completed 42 passes for 356 yards and broke the NFL single-season record with his 50th touchdown pass in the Pats' 38-35 win over the New York Giants.

Tucker had four tackles, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and three sacks in a 30-17 victory over Oakland.

Bironas booted three field goals to help the Titans beat Indianapolis 16-10 and win a playoff berth.
