LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- The International Olympic Committee postponed a decision on how to reallocate medals returned by U.S. runner Marion Jones after she admitted to doping charges.

Jones returned gold medals she was given at the 2000 Summer Olympics for finishing first in the 100 and 200 and the 1,600-meter relay, and bronze medals for third-place finishes in the long jump and 400-meter relay.

In October, Jones pleaded guilty to lying to U.S. officials regarding a steroids investigation. She is to be sentenced next month. Prosecutors were reportedly seeking a prison term of no more than six months.

The IOC was expected to announce this week whether it would give the returned medals to other athletes and withdraw those given to Jones's relay teammates. But Monday it said it was awaiting more information from the ongoing U.S. steroid investigation. A final decision could take months.
