NHL: Pittsburgh 3, Calgary 2 (SO)

CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Kristopher Letang scored in the fourth round of the shootout Thursday to give the Pittsburgh Penguins their sixth win in seven games -- 3-2 over Calgary.

Pittsburgh's Ryan Malone forced overtime by scoring a shorthanded goal with 8:31 to play in the third, and the Penguins finally emerged with two points when Letang got the best of Miikka Kiprusoff.

Kristian Huselius scored for Calgary in the first round of the shootout and Petr Sykora answered for Pittsburgh, after which neither side could produce a goal until Letang delivered his game-winner.

Jarome Iginla scored both of Calgary's goals and twice gave his team the lead.

The Flames missed out on a chance to win back-to-back games for the first time in three weeks. They had ended a four-game losing streak last Tuesday against St. Louis.
