NHL: Atlanta 4, N.Y. Rangers 2

ATLANTA, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Slava Kozlov had a goal and an assist Friday to help the Atlanta Thrashers down the New York Rangers 4-2.

Kozlov's eighth goal of the season broke a 2-2 deadlock at 14:43 of the third period, and his assist came on Pascual Dupuis' fourth goal at 5:58 of the second.

Atlanta's other goals were scored by Eric Boulton in the first and Marion Hossa into an empty net late in the third.

Goalie Johan Hedberg stopped 30 of 32 shots for the Thrashers, who beat the Rangers for the fifth straight time.

New York's goals were scored by Marcel Hossa and Chris Drury, both in the first when the Rangers took a 2-1 lead in to the first intermission.

Goalie Stephen Valiquette stopped 18 of 21 shots for the slumping Rangers, who have lost five of their last seven games.

On the power play, Atlanta was 0 for 2, and New York went 0 for 3.
