COL FB: Clemson 47, Duke 10

DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Cullen Harper accounted for three touchdowns Saturday afternoon as 24th-ranked Clemson overpowered Duke, 47-10.

In his first start this season, the junior from Alpharetta, Ga. threw for one score and passed for another in the second quarter as Clemson built a 26-7 halftime advantage.

The Tigers scored 23 points in the second half.

Harper completed 18 of 27 passes for 198 yards and added a touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Running back James Davis scored once on eight carries for 119 yards, Aaron Kelly scored twice on six receptions for 66 yards, and C.J. Spilller returned a second quarter kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown as the Tigers (7-2, 4-2 ACC) won their third game in a row.

Clemson improved to 22-4 against Duke since the 1981 season.

Duke's Thaddeus Lewis was 15-for-26 for 160 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Nick Maggio kicked a fourth quarter field goal as the Blue Devils suffered their 23rd straight ACC defeat.
