Pettersen holds on at Thailand

PATTAYA CITY, Thailand, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Suzann Pettersen Sunday eagled the 72nd hole to beat Laura Davies by one stroke at the Honda LPGA Thailand Golf Tournament at Pattaya City.

The eagle at the event's final hole helped Pettersen avoid a collapse after she began the round with a seven-shot lead over her nearest opposition.

She managed a 1-under-par 71 in the closing round to end up with a total of 21-under 267.

Davies (65) was 20-under 268.

"I just kept saying, ‘Please drop!'" Pettersen about her closing eagle. "But, what can I say? It's been a fantastic week (and) it's been three wins in October, so I can't complain."

Earlier this month, she won the weather-shortened Hana Bank-KOLON Championship at Kyeongbook, South Korea, and the Longs Drugs Challenge.

Paula Creamer (66) was alone in third place at 18-under 270.

Rachel Hetherington (65) was fourth at 16-under 272, and Stacy Prammanasudh (66) took fifth at 14-under 274.
