It was Murray's third career title and second this season.

He broke Verdasco's serve in the third and seventh games of the first set before breaking twice more in the first and ninth games of the second set to clinch the victory in 1:17.

"I played a pretty solid match, not too many mistakes," Murray told the BBC. "I came to the net at the right time and put a lot of pressure on his serve, so overall it was a pretty comfortable match for me."

The win was worth $142,000 as Murray moved into 11th place in the ATP points race.

The top eight qualify for the season-ending Tennis Masters Cup at Shanghai.

Verdasco was trying for his second career ATP title.

He won the event at Valencia, Spain three years ago.
