NHL: Montreal 3, Pittsburgh 2

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Rookie Carey Price stopped 26 shots in his NHL debut Wednesday as Montreal edged Pittsburgh 3-2.

Andrei Markov scored the game-winning goal 2:51 into the third period. Tomas Plekanec and Alexei Kovalev also scored for Montreal.

Price, the fifth pick in the 2005 draft, helped give the Canadiens a 2


1 start to the season. They played their first three games on the road.

Markov's goal gave Montreal a 3-1 lead. He stuffed home a rebound and that score became the game-winner when Pittsburgh answered less than a minute later.

Montreal outshot Pittsburgh in the final period, 14-7.
