MLB: St. Louis 7, Pittsburgh 3

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Rick Ankiel had three hits and three RBI Saturday night as the St. Louis Cardinals beat Pittsburgh, 7-3.

One of Ankiel's hits was a solo home run in the top of the fourth, giving him 11 homers since he was called up Aug. 9 from Triple-A Memphis.

Four players had one RBI each, while Ankiel was one of three with three hits, as the Cardinals extended their winning streak to four games.

Starter and winner Adam Wainwright (14-12) raised his career record against Pittsburgh to 3-1.

Three players knocked in one run each, and Ronny Paulino had two of the six hits for the Pirates, who have dropped three in a row and eight of their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was starter Tom Gorzelanny (14-10).
