MLB: Baltimore 3, Kansas City 2

BALTIMORE, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Nick Markakis homered in the bottom of the eighth inning Monday as the Baltimore Orioles won a makeup game over Kansas City 3-2.

Daniel Cabrera worked seven innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits, but didn't figure in the decision. Jamie Walker (3-2) allowed a run in the eighth inning, but still got the victory.

Melvin Mora went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Miguel Tejada had a pair of hits for the Orioles, who have won three of their last five games. Baltimore was 7-0 against the Royals this year and is 12-1 against them since the start of 2006.

Gil Meche (9-13) suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs on seven hits in a complete game effort. Mark Teahen was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Kansas City, which lost for a third time in four games.
