AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Colt McCoy completed 20-of-29 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as 6th-ranked Texas crushed Rice, 58-14.
Limas Sweed had five receptions for 139 yards and two TDs for the Longhorns (4-0), highlighted by a 52-yard TD catch in the second quarter. Quan Cosby had five receptions for 66 yards and Nate Jones five for 63.
Texas held a 41-0 lead late in the second half.
Vondrell McGee led Texas rushers with 80 yards on eight carries, while Jamaal Charles scored three times on the ground, gaining 72 yards on 14 carries. John Chiles added 72 yards rushing on nine carries for the Longhorns, who out-gained Rice 227 to minus-11 on the ground.
Chase Clement completed 18-of-32 passes for 220 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for Rice (0-4).
