In the second singles match Friday, the United States is sending James Blake, ranked seventh in the world, against Thomas Johansson, who isn't related to Joachim Johansson.

The U.S. doubles team of twin brothers Bob and Mike Bryan, who are ranked first in the world, is scheduled to go against Sweden's Simon Aspelin and Jonas Bjorkman on Saturday.

Sunday's reverse singles pair Roddick against Thomas Johansson and Blake versus Joachim Johansson.

The United States has won 31 Davis Cup titles but hasn't taken the championship since 1995. The United States is 8-3 all-time versus the Swedes, but 1-3 in Sweden.

The winner advances to the Davis Cup finals, Nov. 30-Dec. 2, against the victor of a Germany-Russia semifinal. Russia is the defending Davis Cup champion.
