Woods to skip Grand Slam of Golf

ATLANTA, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods will be a no-show in mid-October at the 25th PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.

The event follows by two weeks this year's Presidents Cup competition at Montreal.

"I am sorry that I will not be able to spend some time with my friends at The PGA of America and experience the beauty of Bermuda this year at the PGA Grand Slam of Golf," Woods told the PGA of America. "It's been a long year, and, given some new, personal obligations, it is very important that I take some extended time off and spend it with my family.”"

"While we are disappointed, we certainly understand and respect his decision to be with his family," said PGA of America President Brian Whitcomb.

Woods will be replaced by Jim Furyk.

The other participants are Masters champion Zach Johnson, U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera of Argentina, and British Open champion Padraig Harrington of Ireland.
