Tiger Woods wins by eight at Firestone

AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods shot a bogey-free 5-under 65 Sunday to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational by eight strokes.

Woods completed his second three-peat at this event at 8-under 272. He is the only player in this nine-year history of the tournament to come from behind and win. Woods did that in 2001 and again Sunday.

Woods has now won 14 times in 25 World Golf Championship starts.

Rory Sabbatini, the 54-hole leader, actually is the last player to own the 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour and go on to win, which he did at the Colonial in late May.

Sabatini closed with a four-over 74 to end at even-par 280. He was joined in second place by Justin Rose, who had a 2-under 68 on Sunday.

Peter Lonard (68) and Chris DiMarco (70) shared fourth at 281. Davis Love III (69) and Tim Clark (69) tied with Andres Romero at 282.
