Schiavone beats Meusburger, wins Gastein

BAD GASTEIN, Austria, July 29 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Italian Francesca Schiavone defeated Austrian Yvonne Meusburger in straight sets Sunday to win the inaugural Gastein Ladies tennis tournament.

Schiavone beat the unseeded Meusburger -- who was playing in her first WTA Tour singles final -- 6-1, 6-4.

It was the second time this year the Italian star got the best of Meusburger. Schiavone beat Meusburger in straight sets in the first round of the French Open.

The victory at Bad Gastein was the ninth career final for Schiavone, but her first win.
