OAKLAND, Calif., July 22 (UPI) -- Jeremy Guthrie pitched seven innings of two-hit shutout ball Sunday as the Baltimore Orioles posted a 2-0 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Guthrie (6-3) struck out six and walked three while lowering his ERA to 2.88, third-lowest in the American League. He did not allow a runner past second base.

Kevin Millar and Jay Payton each drove in a run for the Orioles, who have won three of their last five games.

Travis Buck and Shannon Stewart had the only hits for the Athletics, who have lost four of their last six games.

Dallas Braden (1-5) gave up four hits and one run over seven innings for Oakland.
