MILWAUKEE, July 15 (UPI) -- Kevin Mench hit a key RBI triple in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday afternoon as the Milwaukee Brewers edged Colorado, 4-3.
Mench scored the deciding run later in the inning, on a wild pitch by loser Jeremy Affeldt (4-2).
Starter Jeff Suppan and Corey Hart had one RBI each, and Hart had two of the seven hits for the NL Central-leading Brewers, who have four wins in the last 10 games.
The winning pitcher was Matt Wise (3-1).
Francisco Cordero earned his 28th save.
Colorado's Brad Hawpe hit his 16th homer of the season, a solo blast in the eighth. Kaz Matsui and Cory Sullivan knocked in one run apiece, while Matsui had two hits for the Rockies, who have dropped two in a row.
Milwaukee right-hander Ben sheets, who left Saturday's game with a sprained right middle finger, likely will undergo an MRI scan Monday.
