LONDON, July 3 (UPI) -- The ATP said it is renaming its season-ending Tennis Masters Cup and moving the multimillion-dollar event to London in 2009.

The Tennis Masters Cup is currently contested in Shanghai. World No. 1 Roger Federer capped his record-setting season last year by winning the event.

Players accumulate points over the season with the top eight singles players and top eight doubles teams earning invitations. Grand Slam event winners are given automatic entry.

ATP officials on Tuesday said they were moving the event to London's 20,000-seat O2 Arena. More than $4.5 million in prize money is at stake in the tournament, which will be called the ATP World Tour Final.

"I love coming to London for The Championships each summer, so I am delighted that the end of season championships will be moving to one of my favorite cities in the world," Federer said in an ATP release. "I'm sure it will be a spectacular event in what looks like a fantastic venue."

The 2007 Tennis Masters Cup is set for Nov. 11-18 in Shanghai. The 2008 ATP final is also set for Shanghai.
