Henin, Mauresmo make Eastbourne finals

EASTBOURNE, England, June 22 (UPI) -- Justine Henin and Amelie Mauresmo, last year's Wimbledon women's finalists, won semifinal matches in England's grass-court tune-up to the Grand Slam event.

Henin and Mauresmo will meet Saturday in the finals of the $600,000 International Women's Open. Henin is the event's defending titlist and seeded No. 1 this year.

She earned a finals berth with a 6-1, 6-3 romp Friday over eighth-seeded Marion Bartoli while Mauresmo advanced after third-seeded Nadia Petrova retired with a right pectoral strain after Mauresmo won the first set 6-4.

Henin owns a 7-6 edge in career matches against Mauresmo but only one of those matches -- last year's Wimbledon final won by Mauresmo -- was played on a grass court.

Henin owns 33 career titles, including four this year. Mauresmo has won 24 times on the WTA tour. One of those titles came this year.
