He tied for 30th place last week while competing in the U.S. Open Championship at the difficult course in Oakmont, Pa.

"Before I came here I'd been looking at that course for seven days," Fasth said. "I played three practice rounds and four tournament rounds and it kind of gets to your head a little bit how difficult it is."

Hanson, who shot 6-under-par 66 on Friday, is at 10-under 134.

Thomas Levet (67), first-round co-leader Jose-Felipe Lima (70) and Andres Romero (68) are tied for third at 9-under 135.

Defending champion Henrik Stenson (66) is tied for 23rd at 5-under 139.
