Fielder leads Pujols in NL All-Star voting

NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder has taken a small lead over St. Louis' Albert Pujols in the National League balloting for the All-Star Game.

The 78th All-Star Game will be played July 10 in San Francisco.

Fielder, 23 and seeking his first All-Star berth, has 899,997 votes, compared to the 876,849 for the five-time NL All-Star Pujols. Fielder leads the National League with 25 home runs and a .637 slugging percentage to go with a .290 batting average and 54 RBI.

The NL infield also includes Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley (930,123), and New York Mets teammates Jose Reyes (1,017,893) and David Wright (1,055,723). Russell Martin of the Dodgers leads the catchers.

The NL's leading vote-getter is New York outfielder Carlos Beltran, who has 1,343,727 votes.
