MLB: Minnesota 3, Atlanta 2

MINNEAPOLIS, June 14 (UPI) -- Mike Redmond finished off a three-run, ninth-inning rally with a game-winning single Thursday night as the Minnesota Twins shocked Atlanta, 3-2.

The Twins had only two hits against Tim Hudson going into the ninth, and Braves' closer Bob Wickman (1-2) came in to protect a 2-0 lead.

But Luis Castillo opened the inning with a single and moved to second on a groundout by Joe Mauer.

Michael Cuddyer then tripled down the left field line to score Castillo. Justin Morneau followed with an infield single with Cuddyer holding at third base.

When Torii Hunter hit a slow grounder to third, Cuddyer was able to dash home and tie the game.

The throw home by third baseman Yunel Escobar was too high, putting runners on second and third. Redmond then singled to left to end the game.

The win went to Dennys Reyes (1-1), who was activated from the disabled list prior to the game. He worked the ninth, giving Minnesota a chance to win its fourth straight.
