The injury-riddled Yankees, who are 9 1/2 games behind Boston for first place in the AL East, have used seven rookie starting pitchers this season.

One night after Tyler Clippard won in his major league debut against the Mets, Chien-Ming Wang (3-3) scattered seven hits and allowed two runs in 6 1/3 innings.

David Ortiz drove in both runs for the Red Sox, who had won seven of their last nine games prior to Monday.
