Henrik Lundqvist, who had 29 saves, made a controversial stop with 17 seconds remaining in regulation. Lundqvist's right pad save on Chris Drury's stuffer attempt at the right post in the waning moments enabled the Rangers to hold on for the win.

Ales Kotalik scored the only goal for Buffalo, which won the first two games of the series at home but have dropped two straight 2-1 decisions. Ryan Miller stopped 26 shots in a losing effort.

The series is now tied at two wins each. Game 5 will be Friday in Buffalo.
