The 20-year-old Nadal became the second player to win three straight Barcelona titles, joining Swedish great Mats Wilander, who did it from 1982-84.

"To win another final in Barcelona, at my home club, it's a great feeling," he said. "The first time I won it was like a dream, so what can I say, to win it for a third time, to win my 20th title here, it is an amazing feeling."

Canas had two break points in the opening game of the match, but Nadal saved both and never again faced a break point.
