MLB: Cincinnati 9, Pittsburgh 5

PITTSBURGH, April 29 (UPI) -- Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run triple in the top of the fourth inning Sunday afternoon to help the Cincinnati Reds beat Pittsburgh, 9-5.

Encarnacion's big hit keyed a five-run outburst.

Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer; Alex Gonzalez hit a solo homer and had three runs and two hits; starter and winner Aaron Harang hit an RBI single; while Brandon Phillips had three hits and two RBI for the Reds -- who have split their last six games.

Harang (4-0) gave up five earned runs and 10 hits in eight innings, with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Ryan Doumit had four hits, including a solo homer, and two RBI; losing pitcher Paul Maholm hit a two-run single; Jose Bautista had one run, two hits and one RBI; and Jason Bay had two runs and two hits for the Pirates -- who have lost two straight.

Maholm (1-3) surrendered six earned runs and seven hits in four innings.
