Aaron Harang (3-0) was solid in the start as he was charged with two runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings of work.

Chris Duncan and Scott Spiezio each drove in a run for the Cardinals, who have dropped six of their last eight games.

Kip Wells endured his worst start as a Cardinal, allowing eight runs -- seven earned -- in 4 2/3 innings.

St. Louis was held under four runs for the 14th time in 19 games. The Cardinals have lost seven of 10 and haven't won consecutive games since a four-game win streak April 8-11.
