NBA: LA Clippers 90, LA Lakers 82

LOS ANGELES, April 5 (UPI) -- Corey Maggette scored 22 points Wednesday night to help the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 90-82.

The Clippers raced to a 57-42 lead at the half, but the Lakers were within 75-69 going into the fourth quarter.

Chris Kaman sank a free throw and Elton Brand hit a jumper for an 86-78 Clippers' lead with 3:12 remaining.

Cuttino Mobley had 18 points and seven assists; Kaman had 17 points and 14 rebounds; and Brand added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Clippers, who won for the seventh time in eight games to remain 1 1/2-games ahead of Golden State for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 29 points and seven assists.

Lamar Odom had 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists; while Luke Walton scored 13 points for the Lakers, who have a 1/2-game lead over Denver for the sixth spot in the West.
