MLB: Milwaukee 7, Los Angeles 1

MILWAUKEE, April 2 (UPI) -- Ben Sheets opened the season by throwing a complete game Monday, carrying Milwaukee to a 7-1 decision over Los Angeles.

Sheets allowed just two hits in going the distance for the 12th time in his career.

J.J. Hardy had three hits, drove in a run and scored once while Bill Hall had a solo homer for the Brewers.

Los Angeles' only run came on a homer in the second by Jeff Kent. Derek Lowe gave up six runs on eight hits in four innings.

Milwaukee had just two victories over the Dodgers all of last year.
