He was so consistent he did not lose a set in the two-week event. He raised his tour-best match record this season to 24-5.

Djokovic earned $533,350.

"It certainly feels great," he said. "It means that your name is in the history of the sport."

Serena Williams won the women's crown Saturday.

Canas, 29 -- back from a 15-month suspension for testing positive for steroid use -- had beaten five seeded players to advance to the final. The run included his second win in two weeks against world No. 1 Roger Federer.

Canas was the first qualifier to reach the event's title match.
