Lundqvist leads NHL honors

NEW YORK, March 26 (UPI) -- New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was selected the top star among the NHL players of the week, the league said Monday.

Joining Lundqvist as National Hockey League players of the week were San Jose forward Jonathan Cheechoo and Montreal goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

0, including one shutout, last week and allowed 0.72 goals per game in helping the Rangers solidify their hold on an NHL Eastern Conference playoff slot.

Cheechoo had six goals and two assists over the Sharks' three games last week. He had a hat trick against Atlanta. Cheechoo has a team-leading 31 goals on the season. He also topped the 30-goal mark last season.

0 in helping keep the Canadiens in playoff contention. His goals against average was 1.33 for the week and Halak posted his first career shutout in a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins.
