NFL's Porter cited in off-field conflict

LAS VEGAS, March 19 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter has been accused by Las Vegas authorities of punching a fellow NFL player in a Las Vegas casino during the weekend.

Police told the Las Vegas Review-Journal they had cited the former Pittsburgh Steelers star player for misdemeanor battery for an alleged fight he had with Cincinnati Bengals lineman Levi Jones Sunday night.

Porter allegedly punched the offensive tackle during the conflict at the Palms Casino, forcing Jones to receive medical attention afterwards.

Las Vegas police Lt. Kevin McMahill said the two NFL players appeared to have been acting on a series of previous on-field conflicts.

"Apparently these two have a history with each other, a history of trash talking on the field," he said.

Porter left the Steelers to sign a five-year, $32 million deal with Dolphins.
