NHL: Tampa Bay 3, Edmonton 1

EDMONTON, Alberta, March 8 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay downed the Edmonton Oilers, 3-1, Wednesday as Vincent Lecavalier scored his league-leading 44th and 45th goals.

The Lightning snapped a two-game losing streak. Vinny Prospal added a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay, which won for the third time in six games. Martin St. Louis had a pair of assists and Marc Denis stopped 29 shots in the victory.

The Oilers have now dropped five straight, their last four at home. Ladislav Smid scored for Edmonton, while Jussi Markkanen made just 22 stops in defeat.
