NBA: Cleveland 101, Detroit 97 (OT)

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 7 (UPI) -- LeBron James scored a season-high 41 points Wednesday night to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons, 101-97, in overtime.

The contest was tied, 70-70, entering the fourth quarter, but Detroit used an 11-2 run to take an early 81-72 cushion.

Cleveland responded with a 13-3 burst -- capped by James' layup -- for an 85-84 edge with 2:32 to play.

His three-pointer with 0.7 seconds left in regulation was waved off.

In overtime, Cleveland out-scored Detroit, 8-4.

Drew Gooden had 22 points and 10 rebounds; Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 14 points and 10 rebounds; and Larry Hughes had 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for the Cavaliers, who have won three in a row and four of their last five games.

Richard Hamilton scored 29 points to lead Detroit.

Chris Webber had 20 points and 11 rebounds; and Chauncey Billups added 16 points and 14 assists for the Pistons, who have dropped three of four.
