Pennetta, Loit reach Acapulco final

ACAPULCO, Mexico, March 2 (UPI) -- Flavia Pennetta and Emilie Loit won their semifinal matches Friday and will meet Saturday for the championship in the Abierto Mexicano Telcel tennis tourney.

Pennetta -- who at No. 5 was the highest seed to make it out of the quarterfinals -- posted a 6-2, 6-4, win over Sara Errani. Loit overcame a sluggish start to defeat Julia Schruff, 0-6, 6-2, 6-1.

It is the fourth straight year Pennetta has reached the finals in this tournament. She won it in 2005.

Friday's match was Loit's third semifinal appearance of the year, but she had lost in the other two.
