NHL: St. Louis 3, N.Y. Islanders 2 (OT)

UNIONDALE, N.Y., March 1 (UPI) -- Lee Stempniak scored on the power play just 25 seconds into overtime Thursday night, boosting the St. Louis Blues past the New York Islanders, 3-2.

St. Louis won for the fifth time in six games, with Jay McClement and Petr Cajanek delivering goals in regulation.

The outcome spoiled the Islanders debut of Ryan Smith, who assisted on a goal by Mike Sillinger. New York had won its four previous games.

St. Louis had the man advantage in overtime because of a holding-the-stick penalty late in regulation against Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro.
