NHL: Chicago 5, St. Louis 1

CHICAGO, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Duncan Keith scored the first of Chicago's three opening-period goals Sunday as the Blackhawks ended a five-game losing streak by clubbing St. Louis, 5-1.

Adrian Aucoin and Bryan Smolinski added goals in the first period as Chicago halted what had been a season-best, four-game winning streak for the Blues.

St. Louis players might have become distracted Sunday when they learned the Blues had traded forward Keith Tkachuk to Atlanta for Glen Metropolit and three draft picks over the next two years.

Curtis Stanford allowed four goals on 11 shots before he was replaced by Jason Bacashihua in the third period.
