Davydenko among first-day winners

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko was a straight-set winner Monday in his first match of the $1 million ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in The Netherlands.

Davydenko, ranked third in the world, swept past Michael Berrer, 6-3, 6-4 in an early match of the 32-player tournament.

Also Monday, third-seeded Novak Djokovic was pushed somewhat before he posted a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 victory over Florent Serra.

In other winners on the tournament's first day were Olivier Rochus, Andrei Pavel and Robin Haase.

The champion of the Rotterdam tournament will collect $193,000.
